New electronically-controlled hydrostatic transmission makes debut.

Kubota just expanded its line of compact tractors with the new Grand L40 and three optional gear boxes, including the company's newly-devloped electronically-controlled hydrostatic transmission.

Available with three-cylinder diesel engines ranging from 34 to 59 horsepower, the Grand L40 line offers competitive power and PTO torque with cleaner emissions and less vibration. The line is also designed to use a myriad of options from cabs to front and back mounted implements.

The crown jewel of the L40 offering is the HST Plus transmission that boasts four functions aimed at improving operator comfort and efficiency. The include:

  • A dial by which the operator selects one of 13 response levels for the HST which controls response to the HST pedal.
  • Operators can choose automatic or manual mode for the Hydro Dual-Speed which allows additional high and low shifting – on the fly – within each hydrostatic range. Overall six speed ranges are available.
  • A mode-sensing selector automatically manages power to the wheels to prevent stalling under load.
  • A new auto-throttle-advance feature simulates the easy of driving and automatic transmission car by synchronizing tractor speed and engine power with the HST pedal.

Other transmissions available include the Glide Shift for electronically controlled clutchless operation, or the fully synchronized main-and-shuttle transmission.

Kubota's new Grand L40 lineup of compact tractors includes the company's newly-developed electronically-controlled hydrostatic transmission (HST Plus). The HST Plus offers six hydrostatic power ranges and easy shifting within each.

Operator conveniences include a larger fuel tank, factory-cab configurations for all HST models and horspower ranges, increased leg room, heating and cooling capacity and frameless, open-glass windows and doors for 360 degree visibility. Also, the entire operator platform is isolated from the chassis with a rubber cushion to reduce vibration.

An integrated front-loader valve makes for easier attachment of front-mounted implements, and hydraulic cylinder rods have been plated for additional protection from job-site damage from abrasion and corrosion.
