USDA's Agricultural Marketing Service is gearing up a special webinar-based series for fruit and vegetable growers. And, if you're a fruit or vegetable grower who wants to stay current on the Food and Drug Administration's new food safety protocols, it'll be to your advantage to register and tune in to these hour-long sessions.
FDA's Food Safety Modernization Act is the most sweeping reform of our food safety laws in more than 70 years. It was signed into law in January 2011. It aims to ensure the U.S. food supply is safe by shifting the focus from responding to contamination to preventing it.
The first session is about FSMA's General Accepted Practices Audit Program and Produce GAPs Harmonization Standards. It's set for 2 p.m. (Eastern), Nov. 7, 2013. To register, click on http://bit.ly/18PrpZE .
The second is tagged Interpreting USDA Fruit & Vegetable Inspections: Does the Shipment Make Good Delivery? This session is set for 2 p.m. (Eastern), Dec. 5. To register, click on http://bit.ly/19M0or5 .
At each webinar, you'll hear a presentation from a USDA expert on a specific topic and be introduced to our staff. You'll also be able to take part in an interactive question and answer session.
These informative webinars are designed for fruit and vegetable growers, packers, shippers, processors, wholesalers and retailers of all sizes. Registration is required and space is limited.
