The Food and Drug Administration has approved Baytril 100 Injectable Solution, an antimicrobial antibiotic, for use in swine. It kills all four major bacteria that cause swine respiratory disease. Since Baytril 100 is concentration-dependent instead of time-dependent, it works with just one subcutaneous injection. It has been used in cattle since its introduction in 1998.

"The introduction of Baytril 100 into the swine market is important because it gives producers and veterinarians access to the unique mode of action of the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics," says Dr. Cary Christensen, Senior Director, Food Animal Products Business Unit at Bayer Animal Health. "We are very excited to bring the swine industry this new management tool to help improve herd health."

This product can only be used by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
