Senator Sam Brownback, R.-Kan., put forth a provision that would require the Ag Secretary to hold an annual exposition to show biobased products.

"I am pleased the Senate Agriculture Committee included in the farm bill my new uses expo amendment," says Brownback. "Increased use of bio-based products creates jobs in rural areas, puts more money in farmers' pockets, and is good for the environment."

Brownback spoke recently with Ag Secretary nominee Ed Schafer about the expo, and the fact that now is the time to increase the use of biobased products. He says a new uses expo would help create new markets for agricultural products.

The Senate returns to work on the Farm Bill Tuesday.
