Email Story RSS Permalink Print Mark Thomas won his sixth International Hot Rod Association Alcohol Funny Car Division world championship in an ethanol-power dragster. Thomas, a Louisville, Oh., finished well ahead of his next opponent. "As a farmer and corn producer, Mark understands the benefits a strong U.S. ethanol industry means to rural America," says National Corn Growers Vice President Jon Doggett. "His success has helped raise ethanol awareness across the country, resulting in greater demand for the fuel and higher prices for corn producers all across the country." "Mark's success in IHRA using 100% ethanol is a testament to his commitment to ethanol and rural America and the high-performance of this renewable fuel," said Renewable Fuels Association President Bob Dinneen. Thomas' Ethanol Performs dragster is sponsored in part by the Ohio Corn Growers Association and the South Dakota Corn Utilization Board. In September, Thomas was on Capitol Hill displaying his Ethanol Performs car prior to the President's Cup race in Budds Creek, Maryland.
