A valued member of the Illinois Department of Agriculture's Print Shop has been awarded the agency's top individual honor.  Todd Stewart was presented the Director's Achievement Award at the department's 32nd annual Employee Luncheon and Awards Ceremony.

"Todd is one of the hardest working employees in the print shop," Agriculture Director Tom Jennings says.  "Whether delivering mail or doing a big printing job, he never complains.  He just rolls up his sleeves and does his work with a smile.  His effort and attitude are greatly appreciated."

Stewart, a Mt. Olive resident, has worked for the department 24 years.  He was selected from among 12 Employee of the Month Award winners.  Other finalists were:  Karen Fawns, Karen Fraase, Scott Frank, Linda McQuinn, Suzanne Moss, John Rebholz, Julie Ressler, Kim Smith, Jeff Tubacki, Eric Wiant and Dorothy Williams.

Mary Roth, an employee of the Bureau of Buildings and Grounds, was presented the Assistant Director's Fellowship Award.  Roth, of Glenarm, was honored for her helpful nature and positive attitude.

Marketing Representative Larry Aldag won the Ag Ambassador Award.  Aldag, a Springfield resident, has been a tireless promoter of Illinois products during his 35-year tenure with the agency.

In addition, Laurie Leuenberger, of Stonington, won the Ron King Award for Efficiency.

The COOL Team, a group of employees from the department's egg and meat and poultry inspection programs, won the Commitment to Quality Award.  The team inspects grocery stores to make sure food items, including fruits and vegetables, most meat products and some nuts, comply with new, federal Country of Origin Labeling, or COOL, requirements.  More than 500 such inspections have been performed since the law took effect in 2009, generating $309,000 in additional revenue for the department.

Finally, a number of employees celebrated over 30 years of service to the department. Celebrating 35 years are: Larry Aldag of Springfield, Herman Jansen of Damiansville, Dannie McKinney of New Haven, Danny Wright of Kansas.
