New approaches viewed as aid to producers with precision management.

In an effort to help farmers get more value per acre of production through analysis of data, John Deere and Dow AgroSciences have teamed to develop approaches and technology delivering information to growers that helps make site-specific tweaks to boost yields and improve their bottom line.

Dow has signed on to leverage the MyJohnDeere platform and new cloud-based technologies for future delivery of customized prescriptions tailored to the grower's environment.

The agreement will help Dow customers take full advantage of the firms products through optimal placement technology into specific environments from a broad portfolio of corn hybrids, company officials explain.

The precision enables effective management of inputs, they add, and the ability to monitor crop development which ultimately can increase yields.

MyJohnDeere, which was launched in 2012 by the John Deere company, provides what the firm describes as a comprehensive information platform to help farmers improve yields and efficiencies by enabling management of equipment data, production information and farm operations.

The platform, they add, allows growers to analyze yield variability, access decision support tools and collaborate with agronomic advisers to improve their bottom line.

"This collaboration is part of our strategy to deliver innovative Dow AgroSciences solutions tailored to each farmer's specific environment," says Larry Robertson, global corn project leader with the company. "Exploring the promise of precision product placement is important to our customers and we are pleased to work with John Deere on approaches that ensure the best product and management tools are put to use on each acre."

The John Deere firm is "committed to supporting the success of producers through the MyJohnDeere open platform that delivers visibility to operations and ensures production optimization through non-exclusive collaboration with agronomic partners," says Pat Pinkston Deere's technology and information manager.
