The 2007 Iowa Pork Congress will be held at Hy-Vee Hall in the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines Jan. 24 and 25. Sponsored by the Iowa Pork Producers Association, the swine symposium offers producers the latest information on production concepts, technology, equipment and services.
The theme of the 35th annual event is "It's All Here!" The nation's largest winter swine trade show will feature nearly 300 companies including several new exhibitors, 20 educational opportunities and numerous other activities.
"This year's show is going to be fantastic," says John Vossberg, a pork producer from Janesville and chairman of the IPPA Iowa Pork Congress Committee. "We have a very good lineup of seminars, products and vendors and an excellent venue. It's one of the premier shows in the United States."
Swine industry experts on hand
Nearly 500 booths will cover the spacious trade show floor and producers will be hard pressed to find so many ag- and swine-related companies under one roof anywhere else. Accounting firms, animal health companies, barn-cleaning equipment suppliers, construction contractors, feed-related companies and more will be displaying and promoting their products and services. The exhibit hall will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 24 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 25.
One of the key components of the two-day show is the valuable educational opportunities that are offered to producers. Industry experts will share new insights in PCVAD and animal disease, animal well-being, sow culling, regulations, ethanol and DDGs and specialty pork marketing. Representatives from some of the leading swine-related businesses will discuss new products, systems and practices at Pork University seminars.
The activities kick off Jan. 22 with the IPPA-sponsored Taste of Elegance at the downtown Des Moines Marriott Hotel. The IPPA Annual Meeting and the Iowa Pork Congress Kickoff Reception and Auction will be held Jan. 23. The Winter Pork Picnic to benefit the Food Bank of Iowa and the Iowa Pork Congress Banquet take place Jan. 24.
