The Missouri Cattlemen's Association (MCA) announced David Dick, Pettis County, the 2012-2013 Cattleman of the Year at MCA's 45th Annual Convention and Trade Show in Columbia, Mo.

The Cattleman of the Year Award goes to someone who has been an important part of MCA for the past year. It could have been exemplified through their volunteerism or their ability to make MCA a more recognizable organization.

Dick grew up around cattle and bought his first head when he was a teenager. He graduated with a degree in agriculture science from the University of Central Missouri and has been a strong member of his community. He has been a state MCA board member for more than 25 years, beef superintendent and livestock superintendent at the Missouri State Fair. Dick has traveled representing the National Cattlemen's Beef Association former Region III Vice President, Chairman and Vice Chairman for the Federation Division.

"This year's MCA Cattlemen of the Year Award goes to a man who has shown the hard work, determination and dedication that this award was designed to represent," said MCA Regional Vice President Patty Wood. "He gives tirelessly to the cattlemen's organization."

Close to 400 cattlemen gathered in Columbia for the 45th annual event.
