Syngenta's CruiserMaxx Peanuts is heading into a new growing season after a successful debut on the market in 2012.
The EPA announced approval for Cruiser PD on peanuts in February 2012 and Syngenta quickly followed that announcement by delivering CruiserMaxx Peanuts, a combination of the Cruiser PD insecticide with Dynasty PD fungicide. The product is designed to give effective protection against both damaging insects and diseases in a seed treatment.
CruiserMaxx Peanuts offers peanut growers protection against early-season insects including thrips and leafhoppers and, at the same time, protects against soilborne and seedborne diseases such as Aspergillus niger, Fusarium, Rhizotonia and Cylindrocladium black rot (seedborne transmission).
The company notes research has shown plants treated with Cruiser are also more robust and vigorous as a result of what in known as the Thiamethoxam Vigor Effect. This increased vigor is said show itself in stronger plants, increased root mass and a visible difference in plant by height and color early in the season.
"We are excited to provide growers with the ability to capture the benefits of Cruiser, a seed treatment they trust in so many other crops, in their peanut fields," said David Long, brand asset lead for Syngenta. "By packaging Cruiser PD with the market-leading seed treatment fungicide, Dynasty PD, Syngenta can now offer our customers the best all-round early-season protection for their peanut crop."
CruiserMaxx Peanuts is one in a series of CruiserMaxx products from Syngenta matching Cruiser PD with Dynasty PD in a seed protection product. The company also produces CruiserMaxx Soybeans, CruiserMaxx Plus for soybeans (which adds a higher rate of mefenoxam to the original product to increase protection against Pythium and Phytophthroa), CruiserMaxx Potato, Cruisermaxx Sugarbeets, CruiserMaxx Cereals, CruiserMaxx Rice and CruiserMaxx Sunflower.
