Cow Shopping? Check Out The All-American Selection

All-American Dairy Show draws nearly 2,500 of industry's best on-the-hoof genetics, beginning this weekend.

The 50th All-American Dairy Show kicks off a six-day run of celebration of excellence on Sept. 7 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. This golden jubilee event will draw close to 2,500 cows and heifers and nearly 1,000 of their closest human friends for 22 competitive events.

The All-American showcases some of the best dairy cattle in the country, says Pennsylvania Ag Secretary George Greig.  So if you're shopping for top-grade genetics, this is the place to prowl.

Premier National Junior Events run in conjunction with the All-American on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, Sept. 7-9. It includes seven Premier National Junior Shows. A junior events benefit auction is set for Sun., Sept. 8.

Junior show competitors will vie for the $2,000 Premier National Junior Supreme Champion prize. Open show cattle aim to claim the $3,000 Supreme Champion honor. And this year, an open show Supreme Champion Bred and Owned animal will selected and awarded during the Supreme Champion pageant on Thurs., Sept. 12.

Only one cattle sale is scheduled. The Eastern Elite Holstein Sale is Tues., Sept. 10 at 5:30 p.m.

The National Dairy Shrine annual meeting and banquet is new to the show. It's slated for Wed., Sept.11, with a 4 p.m. meeting and 6:30 p.m. banquet.
