Could Two Major Grain Groups Merge?

The operations of the National Corn Growers and the U.S. Grains Council could come together.

Published on: Dec 30, 2008
The Brownfield Radio Network reports that corn checkoff and membership organizations from 19 states are working on an effort that could combine the operations of the National Corn Growers Association and the U.S. Grains Council. The effort is dubbed Corn Vision 2012.

The effort is aimed at streamlining the functions of both organizations and to investigate the potential creation of one unified national corn structure that represents both the domestic and international function, according to the report. The Corn Vision 2012 program is allowing those member groups to take an in-depth look at how the groups can do better.

Already, second stage recommendations from the effort have been distributed to the various state organizations, as well as the NCGA and U.S. Grains Council boards for further review and input.
