Cotton Incorporated plans a workshop on how to manage your price risk for the 2008 season Feb. 13 in Memphis at the Peabody Hotel.

The main topics include: Why are options on cotton futures critical to your business? What can options do for you and how? And Actionable hedging strategies based on various price scenarios, as well as a market outlook.

The seminar at the Peabody Hotel in downtown Memphis will feature a number of noted cotton marketing experts, discussing the when and how-to of using a variety of option strategies. Carl Anderson and Mike Stevens will discuss when and how to use a variety of option strategies including fences, 3-ways and calendar spreads.

John Robinson of Texas A&M University will provide a production cost outlook; O.A. Cleveland will give a market outlook; and Kelli Merritt, CropMark Inc., Lamesa, Texas, will discuss hedging countercyclical payments.

This is a basic and intermediate workshop on using options on futures to manage price risk.
