Imagine if Ole and Sven conducted ag research plots.
Ole and Sven – the imaginary characters who have been the butt of hundreds of friendly ethnic jokes about Norwegians in the Dakotas -- would have surely planted soybeans too deep, sprayed Roundup too late and run soybean seeds through a dinged up auger before planting. In short, they would have probably made just about any mistake that you can make with corn and soybeans.
But in every mistake there is lesson to be learned.
That’s the idea behind the Ole and Sven Crop Clinic at the Peterson Farm Seeds July 28 at Prosper, N.D. The event runs from 8:30 to 3:30 p.m. Lunch is sponsored.
You will see 32 soybeans plots comparing seed scoures, no-till and convention, planting depth, population, Roundup vs. Roundup- Pursuit weed control and many other practices and products.
There also are 35 corn plots featuring population, planting time, planting date, planter speeds and many other comparisons.
And you are sure to hear some new Ole and Sven jokes.
