Bobcat, the company that created the skid-loader industry 50 years ago and expanded that market worldwide with its concentration on loader attachments, has launched a compact tractor line. The new models were on display at a Las Vegas product launch this week which kicked off the North Dakota firm's 50th anniversary celebration.

Bobcat's new CT120 offers a tight 89-inch turning radius and a working width of less than four feet. The 20 hp. model is available with a variety of attachments and comes standard with 4WD.

The CT120, CT225 and CT230 4WD tractors are the first of a nine-model line the company plans to bring to showrooms in 2008. All feature hydrostatic transmissions and operator controls designed to be intuitive for customers who have never driven a tractor.

Built by Daedong of Korea, the new models all feature glow-plug heated diesel engines with 100-hour service intervals and maintenance accessibility designed in. Creature comforts and safety features include suspension seats and retractable seat belt, a folding Roll Over Protection system, hydraulic-controls built close to the operator seat, a cup holder, horn, brake lights, a single-pedal hydrostatic transmission control, tool box and cruise control.

Aimed at the large property owner and landscape and construction contractor, the new tractor line will range from 20 to 50 horsepower.

The new 27 hp. CT230 compact tractor by Bobcat weighs in at a hefty 3,021 lbs. and features a 3-range hydrostatic transmission.

The CT120 is a 20 hp. tractor that weighs in at 2,055 lbs. and measures only 46.5 inches wide with agricultural tires. It comes with a two-speed hydrostatic transmission. Like the other two new tractors, the 120 is available with an angle blade, box blade, finish mower, post-hole digger and tine rake, as well as a front-end loader and attachments.

The largest of Bobcat's new tractors, to date, is the 30 hp. CT230 which weighs 3,055 lbs. Company officials say six more models ranging up to 50 hp. will be introduced this year.

The CT225 has 27 hp. and a three-speed hydrostat. It and the CT230 share similar frames which measure 56 inches wide with ag tires and 118 inches long. The 225 weighs 3,021 lbs.

The CT230 has a 30 hp. engine and weighs 3,055 lbs.

Simple controls on the new CT lineup include a one-pedal rocker for forward and reverse, a built-in joystick for hydraulic accessories and the convenience of a cupholder. Note easy-access hydraulic system spin-on filter mount.

Bobcat officials say their tractors offer extra weight for more pushing power and traction than many competitors, and come standard with features a number of tractor makers offer only as options.
