The 22nd annual Baylor County Agriculture Appreciation Day is anticipating a capacity crowd on Tuesday, April 10 at Seymour, Texas.
The big event is expected to be better than ever at the Baylor County Agri-Pavilion. This year's production will include multitudes of agriculture exhibits both inside and outside the Agri-Pavilion. In addition, the Seymour Hospital Health Fair will be held in conjunction with the Baylor County Agriculture Appreciation Day. The health fair will start at 7 a.m. The Appreciation Day also will provide a noon meal for attendees.
Agricultural booths will open for visitors at 9 a.m. and remain open until 3 p.m.
Ag Day event sponsors anticipate a crowd of more than 1,000 people for the Agriculture Appreciation Day this year.
Strong commodity prices for both crops and livestock have both farmers and ranchers in a better scenario in 2012 compared with the devastating drought of 2011. The wheat in the Seymour region looks good this year, and there is potential for a good wheat harvest. The range and pasture land also is greening up following rains in recent months, and is promising to provide forage for livestock.
Appreciation Day booths will vary from farming and ranching, to homemaking and water conservation exhibits. New and innovative businesses also will be featured at the big event. This will include some of the latest in farming technology and new machinery.
The agricultural day program also will include recognition of the Farmer of the Year, Rancher of the Year, and also honor the Business of the Year during the luncheon ceremonies, which also will include a top speaker.
