Arkansas Soybean Meeting Slated For Brinkley

The Arkansas Soybean Association will meet Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 for its  48th  Annual  Business Session and Seminar.  The informative seminar and business session will be held at the Convention Center (1501 Weatherby Drive) in Brinkley, Arkansas. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m., program at 9 a.m. and will conclude in mid-afternoon.  Lunch will be provided by the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board.

The program will include a legislative update from the American Soybean Association, a look at the European Soybean Situation from the United Soybean Board, a report on Arkansas Soybeans (Where do our beans go?), and a 2012 Market Outlook.    Speakers scheduled at this time are Steve Wellman, President, American Soybean Association; Marc Curtis, Past Chair, United Soybean Board; Grayson Daniels, VP of Grain Sales, Riceland Foods; Scott Stiles, Extension Economist, U of A Division of Agriculture; and Jeremy Ross, Extension Agronomist – Soybeans, U of A Division of Agriculture.  A tentative agenda is available online at www.arkansassoybean.com.

The Soybean Association will hold its 48th Annual Business Session of membership.  During this meeting, the winners of the 2011 Go for the Green ($$$$) Yield Challenge will be announced and the 2012 DuPont Young Leaders, Reid and Jamie Hornbeck will be recognized. The Association will also present the 2011 Soybean Extension Education Awards.

Ag business reps will be present to answer your questions.  We will also be holding a live auction during lunch to raise additional funds for lobbying and special projects.  Auction items, provided by members of the soybean industry, include soybean seed, crop protection chemicals, trout fishing, custom applications, pearls, and many other similar items.

Arkansas President Bobby Swanson said recently, "This is a busy time of year for all producers and we have designed our meeting to meet the needs of our membership.  We are providing information we feel is important to producers in a day."
