Winning the coin toss and the lead of the parade is the Tip of the Mitt Antique Tractor Association of Onaway. They will follow this year's Grand Marshal Katie Darrow, who owns the property used for the pre-parade staging area. "She's not driving a tractor, but she's riding in a convertible Mustang," Baumgras says. "Her family owns a construction company and gravel pit. Without that property, which is about 750 feet wide, 900 feet deep, this event would be difficult to arrange. The grand marshal is always someone who is important to the event. We asked her last year, but she had a conflict with the date, so we're real pleased she could join us this year."

Past grand marshals include: Ed Socolovitch, 2008, Chum Ostwald, 2009, Leonard Schreier, 2010, and  Walt Ritenburg, 2011.

This year Baumgras is providing the bussing to Mackinaw City following the crossing for tractor riders to pick up vehicles, as the casino is no longer providing that service.

The Mighty Mackinac Bridge Antique Tractor Crossing is followed the next day by the Richard Crane Memorial Semi Truck Parade and Show
