South Korea has approved imports of hybrids containing Syngenta's Agrisure Viptera 3111 trait stack.
The Agrisure Viptera 3111 trait stack provides control of 14 above and below ground pests that threaten corn. The approval by South Korea will allow imports of U.S. corn grown from hybrids containing the trait stack to South Korea for food, feed or processing use.
Syngenta estimates that pests controlled by the trait stack costs U.S. corn growers about 238 million bushels in lost yield annually. In national field trials, theViptera 3111 trait stack devlivered a 7.3 bushel per acre advantage under pressure from ear feeders, including corn earworm, fall armyworm, Western Bean cutworm, black cutworm, dingy cutworm, stalk borer and sugarcane borer.
