Field Day in Monticello, Ark.

Traditional crops, biofuels featured.

A field day July 29 at the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture's Rohwer Research Station will feature biofuels, cotton, rice, corn and soybeans.

Biofuel test plots at the station feature cottonwood trees, switchgrass, sweet sorghum and giant miscanthus.

Cotton feature will feature a new conventional variety developed by the Division of Agriculture and GlyTol, developed by Bayer. Both varieties are expected to be on the market in 2011.

Rice research will focus on the value of seed treatments, weed control and variety selection.

The soybean tour will focus on Liberty Link production and insect management.

Corn production will focus on effects of planting date, fungicide use and weed control options on plant characteristics.
