And, Suddenly, It Is Winter
You'd think we would get used to this summer one day, winter the next, but every year it is a shock

What a difference a couple of days makes!!
Less than a week ago, my petunias, snap dragons and sole surviving geranium were still blooming in my front garden.
Now, the fountain sports icicles and the once-vivid flowers are more like puddles of color on the soil.
It happens this way every year -- we get maybe one cold spell around Halloween and then a month of summer-ish November weather followed by a sudden chill down. You'd think I'd be used to it after almost 22 years in Kansas, but every year it is a shock.
My biggest regret this year is I didn't get out there in the sunshine and get my Christmas lights up. Now I either go without my annual display (UNTHINKABLE!!) or I get out there in the cold and the wind and tough it out. It'll happen this weekend.
I'm shivering just thinking about it.
On the bright side: I did get a new load of firewood.
