Time for the Farm Progress Show…drop by the Hospitality Tent and say hello!

Published on: August 28, 2011

It's late on Sunday evening as I write this. The camera bag is packed and so is my laptop, but the rest? Not so much. It will be soon, or at least by some point on Monday, when I head out the door for the Farm Progress Show.

Our first-grader, Nathan, is tagging along. He thinks he's staying through Thursday but he's wrong. A day and a half of skipping school is probably enough. Although, it's kind of appropriate; I skipped school for a day in the fourth grade to attend my first Farm Progress Show, held in Indiana that year. I was chosen to go on stage in the Family Living tent (now known as the Rural Life tent) to help with a game. I won a mechanical pencil. It says something about how long ago that really was, that I was so excited about it. Talk about new technology.

And speaking of new technology, our collective heads will be spinning by Thursday afternoon but only in the best way. Three days of field demonstrations, new products, new technology and catching up with old friends. It promises much fun.

So if you're coming to the show, stop by and say hello. I'll be in the Hospitality Tent from 2-4 p.m. each day and I would love to catch up with you. And in fact, many of our other editors will be there, too. Here's our schedule:

8-10 a.m.: Mike Wilson, Farm Futures
10 a.m. to noon: Josh Flint, Prairie Farmer
Noon to 2 p.m.: Tom Bechman, Indiana Prairie Farmer
2-4 p.m.: Holly Spangler, Prairie Farmer

You can keep up with what's going on at the show by following Prairie Farmer on Facebook, or by following the Farm Progress Show on Facebook. We're on Twitter too: @hollyspangler and @FPShow.
