Email Blog RSS Permalink Print It's a well-known fact that winter isn't over until after the St. Patrick's Day parade and the state basketball championship tournament. But this is getting ridiculous. After back to back 70-degree days and kiddos thinking we can just open up the back door and run out to play, we get ... snow? Yep, snow. Wichita got only a slight frosting, but other parts of Kansas got up to 4 inches or more. My friend, Amy Hadachek, sent me this photo from their farm near Belleville in north central Kansas. After flurries in Wichita this morning, we ended up with the mid-50s by late afternoon and a forecast for temps pushing 80 degrees by the end of the week. These kinds of swings are not good for people and other living things, including wheat, ornamental shrubs and fruit trees. Be sure to check the April Kansas Farmer for more insight on the weird weather of the winter of 2011.
