Humane Society of U.S. Gets a Downgrade

Charity Navigator puts HSUS below PETA for level of trustworthiness

Published on: April 5, 2010
The nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom's effort to "watchdog the dog watchers" is getting noticed.

The Humane Society of the United States and its global arm,  Humane Society International, were downgraded by Charity Navigator to a level below even that of the rabid animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

The downgrade game after CCF took out full-page ads in the New York Times and USA Today to inform readers that HSUS gives less than one percent of the donations it collects to hands-on pet shelters.

Way to go, CCF
