Have I Mentioned I Hate Leukemia?

Kansas Viewpoint

With babies struggling around me, I can't ignore this horrible disease

Tonight, I got an e-mail update. A little friend who has fought leukemia since he was four months old, died tonight in his mother's arms. His tiny body was cancer-free but so ravaged by treatments that he died of side effects. He was 32 months old.

This disease is so horrible.

My daughter has another friend who is just beginning the process of fighting. Their 2-year-old has AML, the same disease that took the life of baby Lucas Flint, the son of my colleague at Illinois Prairie Farmer.

I feel so helpless. I am here, receiving these horrible messages and what can I do?

I can't make the disease stop. I can't help the families or the babies that are suffering. But I can say, please, to all those who get his message, try to find a way to help the families in your community who are suffering from the impact of this disease. Help where you can.
