Farm Boy Friday

My Generation

Feeling low? Here's a look at everything that's right and good in our world.

Published on: May 31, 2013

Once upon a time, it stopped raining, and I was able to get in my car, drive to a farm, and shoot some photos. It was glorious. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, the clouds were fluffy. It was just two days ago. And a little farm boy named Chase got out of school early. Just in time for the Prairie Farmer photo shoot.

And if you're feeling a bit down today - maybe you still have a lot to plant? And it's still raining? And there's no end in sight? Take a look at this little guy. Because as I stood there and talked with his dad about planting technology, Chase scooted off to the barn and came back with a five-gallon bucket, filled with barn kittens.

Seriously. It doesn't get any better than this.

Chase Olson cleared out of second grade just in time to arrive home for a photo shoot. And then he brought out the kittens.

Love the pictures! It really takes me back to childhood, digging around in the hay loft, listening for the sound of baby kitties and trying to find them.

Thanks, Kim! Bet you can still smell the hay!

You might be wondering ways to get satellite TV free of charge. It can be done for one to get satellite television for free using a computer utilizing proprietary PC satellite television software. This information is fantastic to people who rely upon satellite meal systems to get and view more stations.

  2. I'm a first-time commenter, but have read your blog for the past several months. Thank you for this nostalgic pick-me-up! This made me long for the armful of barn cats I had in my childhood!

Thanks for reading and for commenting, Emily! Everybody loves a good barn kitten, don't they?

Cute kittens, Chase -- have a great summer!

There is nothing better than a bucket of barn cats. I can remember the kids hunting in the barn until they found the litter of kittens and how they named each one of them. We had kittens named after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...and some of them turned out to be girls. Great pictures.

    • Pat, it's so great to hear from you! I was just looking at a basket in my room the other morning and thinking of you and Shelby! And you are so right about the barn cats; we have found one litter but the kids know there's another out there...and they just keep looking. And coming back to the house covered in hay. :)
