A Tractor that Stands Out

Farmer Iron

New Holland has a tractor option they call the 'un-limited edition' and you can't miss it. And a contest deadline is approaching.

Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows I like farm shows (and it's a darn good thing I work for Farm Progress). This week I'm at Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, Ga., enjoying the weather and the new tech on hand.

As I got a chance to walk around the show on opening day, a tractor in the New Holland exhibit caught my eye. The company's machines are already distinctive with their "cat-eye" noses, but this machine stood out just a bit more - the T7070/T7060 with the Bluepower/Un-limited edition package.

This Blue Power version of the T7070 tractor gets your attention with its sharp paint and trip. Something to consider at buying time.

For a $2,500 up charge, the machine offers a considerable bump in its appearance. What you see first is the metallic blue paint finish the company says is reminiscent of a Masarati style finish. The package also includes chrome-colored elements, the Comfort Ride cab suspension system, the 360-degree Horizon cab, the Sidewinder II armrest with CommandGrip controller and a distinctive set of Trelleborg TM800 tires.

The T7060 and T7070 have already been recognized with Tractor of the Year honors (the T7060 in 2008 and the T7070 in 2010). In addition you can get either a powershift or a continuously variable transmission, which is becoming common across most tractor brands in this horsepower range.

The spiffed-up package will stand out - even under the dust and dirt that is just part of running a successful operation. I know it got my attention. You can build and price your own tractor at www.newholland.com/na.

Contest deadline approaches

Meanwhile, over at Agco's Application Equipment business, time is running out to nominate a custom applicator as 2010 Operator of the Year. Deadline for the contest is October 31 and judging criteria for the program includes years of service, acreage covered and community involvement.

Finalists and the winner of the 2010 award will be recognized at the 2010 ARA Conference and Exposition Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The winner receives a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle. And for this year, the ag retailer who nominates the winning Operator of the Year will receive a three-day/two-night Harley Road Trip for the nominator and friend.

Ag retailers can nominate their top operators for the award through Oct. 31 at search.applylikeapro.com. Farmer-readers who think their application operator is top notch might suggest the contest to their ag retailers too.
