30 Days on a Prairie Farm: Dialogue

My Generation

Day 15: What happens when farmers get together and engage food influencers.

Published on: November 15, 2012

I shared yesterday how sometimes you just have to leave the farm. Try a new path. See something different. And maybe have a conversation. Or three.

Which brings me to today: I'll be attending The Food Dialogues in New York City, organized by the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance. It's a day's worth of panel discussions designed to spark conversation between farmers and food influencers.

So while you can look for stories here on the website about the panels, I'll also be live blogging each panel. In essence, as each panel takes place, I'll be updating a blog with quotes, news and observations. All told, there will be four blogs here today. That's right; it's a big day in My Generation blog world.

Dixon farmer Katie Pratt participated in the last Food Dialogues, held in L.A. over the summer.

Here's a look at the schedule for the day, in case you want to check back later. Keep in mind, these are Eastern times.

10 a.m. - 11 a.m.          Panel 1: Media, Marketing and Healthy Choices

11:45 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.  Panel 2: Antibiotics and Your Food

2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.         Panel 3: Biotechnology and Your Food

Also, they'll announce semi-finalists in the Faces of Farming contest between panels 2 and 3, so we'll be sure to share that information right away, too.

So tune in…it's gonna be a busy day!
